The US attorneys office swore in blood they would never plea bargain with Ted and would convict him and he would get the death penalty.

Problem was that all their evidence was circumstantial and there were no eyewitnesses to any of his crimes. True, they had bundles of evidence of his bomb making but just because you build bombs in the middle of nowhere is not proof you set one off 2,000 miles away.

Still, the Government pushed on with the death penalty trial. The day jury selection was to begin it became known to the press that the Government had found a second cabin-known as Ted's secret cabin-far away from his shack in Lincoln.

Ted's defense attorneys ask for and were given a mistrial since the Government had withheld evidence and they were given no chance for a discovery hearing.

With little choice left they accepted Ted's Guilty plea and he was given life in prison without parole.

He in now incarcerated at the SuperMax prison outside Bolder Colorado.

He receives an enormous amount of mail each week-only Charles Manson is sent more.
